2022 Shrine Treasurer Association Mid-Year Seminar
2022 Shrine Treasurer Association Mid-Year Seminar Myrtle Beach, South Carolina March 4-8, 2022
The 2022 Shrine Treasurer Association Mid-Year Seminar was held March 4-8 at the Landmark Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The 2022 event represented the first Mid-Year Seminar held by the STA in the post-COVID world and also the first mid year meeting after the passing of STA President Bruce Wiggins.
We saw good attendance with Temple Treasurers from all over the United States and Canada, including Imperial Sir Brad Koehn, Imperial Treasurer. From a content perspective, the STA Nobility received presentations from Matt Noell, Director of Temple Accounting, regarding the policies and procedures expected of Temple Treasurers, as well as from John Piland, Executive Vice President, about bylaw and legal compliance and Mel Bower, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer about internal and external communications and policies. Between the three presentations, a lively question and answer session became a very informative session that all in attendance benefited from. Keith Melfi, in his last event as FIS Support Coordinator, gave an excellent presentation about the work being done in Tampa to evolve WebFez into an efficient and effective tool for all members to utilize on a regular basis with the goal of simplifying the workload of Divan members and all volunteers, leading into a wonderful presentation from membership Officer Brian Harrison on the recruiting automations available through the Membership Development System (MDS), which is being integrated into WebFez.
The members elected STA President Gary Morgan from Kosair Shriners in Louisville, Kentucky, as well as two Vice Presidents, Bill Kutschbach from Aladdin Shriners in Columbus, Ohio as 3rd VP, and Francois Nasraoui from Karnak Shriners in Montreal, Quebec during the general sessions. The meeting also marked the retirement of Secretary/Treasurer Robert “The Bob” Bulman from a position that he had held since 2017. Past President Bill Wheeler from Cahaba Shriners in Huntsville, Alabama was elected to serve the organization in Secretary/Treasurer moving forward.
Besides the rain and some of the facilities being under construction, it was great to meet together in person once again and have an amazing seminar as we continue our mission to support our Temple Treasurers, Shriners International, and Shriners Children’s!
